Welcome to the Green Canaries, we are a wheelchair basketball club based in the community of Norwich, Norfolk, consisting of junior and senior members. There is no restriction for membership, both able-bodied and disabled are eligible, as well as all minority groups. We started in March 2007, with four members and now we have 17 members. We are still recruiting new members and raising necessary funding.
We help with fitness while gaining a new skill in sport, within a safe environment. A qualified child protection officer is present at every session. We help team participation skills and social integration. We support disadvantaged young people with particular needs and we offer social and physical suppport within our group. It allows all to participate at their own level with coaching by adults who understand their needs and restrictions. We are currently training at Recreation Road Sports Hall in Norwich, Norfolk.
Kettle Foods and Norwich City Council Community grant has given the club a start, but we do need transport to pick up some members who find it difficult to get to the venues and otherwise would not be able to come. Any donations would be great. Any firms that would like to sponsor us, would be great also. Any one interested in joining our group please contact below.
